Two independent playthroughs support the leech-bait-to-Giant-Piranha chain, while the required leech count remains openly unresolved.

The supported chain is to hand leeches to the quest NPC for leech bait, then use that bait to bring the Giant Piranha. Skoottie and MrPorkchop_14 independently show the leech-lure-to-boss sequence. MrPorkchop_14's run says clearing it opens the next location, but that step has not been independently reproduced. Do not rely on a fixed leech count: one runner reports three, Gaming Plus TV says five, and we have reproduced neither count.

  1. Pick up leeches in the quest area; they are ground pickups rather than catches from the water.
  2. Hand the leeches to the quest NPC. MrPorkchop_14's first-hand run shows this yielding leech bait, but the required count is disputed.
  3. Use the leech bait to bring the Giant Piranha; Skoottie and MrPorkchop_14 independently show this cause-and-effect chain.
  4. Clear the encounter. MrPorkchop_14 says this opens the next location, a progression detail that has not been independently reproduced.

Requirements / Limits

  • MrPorkchop_14 repeatedly shows the leech hand-in and leech-bait reward around 00:51:23–00:51:50 and 01:35:35.
  • The same run warns the player to bring a gun and shows dead piranhas eaten for health, but those tactics are single-source and have not been independently reproduced.
  • The count is not settled: MrPorkchop_14 reports three while Gaming Plus TV reports five, and neither count has been reproduced by this site.
  • Islands are gated behind unlocking rather than reachable at will. Patch 1.0.5 on 22 August 2026 lists as a bug that players could travel to any island without unlocking them, and says it was fixed. That supports the unlock model in general; it does not by itself name the Giant Piranha as the gate on Island 3.

  • Publishing three or five as the definitive leech requirement.
  • Searching the water for leeches instead of looking for ground pickups.
  • Treating the single-source gun, healing, or next-location observations as independently confirmed rules.
